Taffspeed PX210-RS (Rally Special)

Engine specifications.
Bore: 68.5mm     Stroke: 57.0mm     Capacity: 210.0cc

For the basis of our “20th Anniversary Rally Specials” we have utilised the last of the PX200E’s, all of which are Disc brake models. The engine tuning is to a specification that we have used since 1997.
This was the result of further developments on our Taffspeed exhaust system (Mk4) to comply with BS AU193 (1990/T3) also put through TUV for the German market at that time.

The work we carry out in our workshop;
The engine is removed then stripped down for the parts to be examined, then porting work is carried out in the inlet area of the crankcases, the air box matched, then the Malossi cylinder matched to crankcase gasket face.

The crankshaft is split & modified to increase the inlet timing period, then reassembled with a new crank pin of greater interference fit as the standard crankshaft assembly has been known to twist on tuned engines.

The gearbox has 4th exchanged for a PX125-T5 4th gear and re-shimmed.

The Malossi 210 cylinder kit is checked for it’s fit. (Electric Start flywheels can rub on the side of the transfer port area) The standard cylinder head is modified to suit the Malossi Cylinder kit.

Engine is rebuilt with new oil seals & gaskets etc.

Engine refitted to chassis, re-cabled, electrics re-connected and the carburetor jetting changed.

We recommend that a Taffspeed Mk4 exhaust is fitted and then the engine started & run, then the jetting is checked on our Dyno-jet rolling road.

The standard oil injection system is retained but the two stroke oil is changed for a fully synthetic oil, we use Putoline TTX .
